The May Jobs Report—More Bad News For Trump-O-Nomics
Here’s a nugget in the May Jobs Report that reminds us once again about how far off the deep-end the Trumpified GOP has stumbled. To wit, the OBBBA includes $70 billion for a massive new campaign to deport undocumented workers, yet during the last 67 months (since October 2019) the employment of native-born workers (blue line) has increased by a microscopic +0.1%.
That’s right. There were 131,721,000 native-born workers employed in October 2019, which figure had grown to just 131,822,000 as of May 2025. So with the aid of either a magnifying glass or a HP 12c you can determine that the number of native born employees has risen by 0.101 million, which amounts to exactly 2.3% of the 4.334 million gain in total US employment since October 2019.
