The $350 billion Korean investment in the USA ballyhooed loudly from the White House Wednesday embodies the folly of Trump-O-Nomics in spades. It is just one of numerous like and similar foreign “investments” in America now being heralded by Trumpety, which allegedly total upwards of $20 trillion.

Moreover, from that dubious $20 trillion economic concoction comes the cockamamie Trumpian narrative that America has the “hottest” economy in the world, and that the US economy is booming like never before.

This is unadulterated bull shit, of course. This whole gambit actually amounts to Caesarean Statism—an economically destructive variation of Big Government as uniquely confabulated by DJT.

Its content, in fact, amounts to a dog’s breakfast of unneeded or wasteful, uneconomic investments at home and tariff attacks on trade partners abroad, who are then compelled to send reverse foreign aid to the USA in order to mitigate the tariff wrecking balls that the Donald has been lobbing into global commerce with reckless abandon.

All of this sui generis statism arises from one utterly uniformed man’s whims and hobby horses, propped up by the enthusiasms of Trump administration courtiers, who translate these tangents into term sheets and White House press releases.
