RFK—The Antidote to Trumpification Of The GOP
Donald Trump is truly a clear and present danger to the future of liberty and capitalist prosperity in America. And not just because he has lately swung explicitly into the fascist lane with his rant about the political “vermin” allegedly threatening the nation or his recently leaked second term plan to launch massive immigrant concentration camps and sweeping deportation pogroms.
Bad as these rhetorical expectorations might be, however, the real danger is a thoroughly and irrevocably Trumpified GOP. That is, a Republican party dominated by a reckless spender, easy money crackpot and cavalier anti-market Ceasarist at home, and an unhinged protectionist, nationalist and militarist on the international front.
Trumpification of the GOP would eliminate once and for all even a semblance of an Opposition Party, operating in juxtaposition to the dominant Government Party of Washington’s bipartisan ruling class. A Trumpified GOP would only enable more spending, more debt, more Wall Street coddling by the Fed, more waste in an already hideously bloated national security budget, an even further shrinkage of the decimated middle class and more aggrandizement of the state in the pursuit of China Wars, Border Wars, Drugs Wars, Culture Wars and other adventures in societal uplift and betterment that are none of Washington’s business in the first place.
So, ironically, the most important objective for the cause of liberty and economic freedom in 2024 is stopping the Trumpification of the GOP. If that results in a crack-up of the present coalition of political gangs that passes for the GOP, so be it. If the White House continues to function as a rest home for Sleepy Joe’s final days, so be that too.
The world is not going to end during 2025-2028. So the sooner the core of freedom-oriented Republican voters can be liberated from the thrall of the Washington-based careerists, racketeers and neocon warmongers (we are talking about you Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, Mitt Romney, Lindsay Graham etc.) who have betrayed them over and over again, the sooner a sweeping realignment of today’s dead-end two-party system can commence.
In that context, you couldn’t have invented a more powerful roadblock to Trumpification of the GOP than Robert F. Kennedy Jr., even if you had divine powers of political influence. And you couldn’t have identified a more fit leader to galvanize a new Opposition Party based on peace, freedom and prosperity than the mutineering scion of the Democrat’s First Family.
Recent polls give more than a hint as to the possibilities. Among voters identifying as “independents” RFK is already leading after only six weeks of his independent candidacy. But to throw the race into the US House of Representatives where he could potentially win, or broker a historic deal that amounts to a win for the anti-Uniparty cause, he needs to peel substantial votes from the Republican column. For all practical purposes that means older, anti-establishment MAGA voters who have been misled by the Donald’s loud declamations against the Deep State, Forever Wars and status quo Uniparty rule in general.
