Yes, it IS all over except the shouting. If there was ever any doubt, Trump’s thundering 30%+ margin in Iowa seals the deal. After all, a trash-talking pussy-grabber should have faced some strong headwinds among Iowa’s very Christian electorate, but among those folks–older, less educated, more rural—is precisely where the Donald ran-up massive extra margins.
Barring divine intervention, therefore, Trump has a lock on the GOP nomination and would be the odds-on favorite against the doddering octogenarian he will face in the general election. But America flat-out cannot stand another 4-years of a brutish, unhinged megalomaniac in the Oval Office, who has no discernible principles or policy compass except his own glorification and grandeur.
Moreover, the only place he can likely be stopped is at the 270 vote-marker in the Electoral College. That is to say, Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s independent candidacy is, ironically, the last best hope for the future of liberty and capitalist prosperity in America.
That’s because by picking off even a handful of electoral college votes RFK could force an otherwise evenly divided split into the US House of Representatives for the first time since 1824. In that event, he would either become the kingmaker wielding a huge policy stick in return for his support or take the prize himself via assembling a coalition of 26 state delegations that are unwilling to hand the reins of national leadership to either of the Uniparty’s eighty-year-old candidates whose compos mentis is very much in doubt.
In other words, the 2024 election is not about choosing between run-of-the-mill liberal versus conservative platforms and candidates. Instead, it’s about an epochal choice to bring the Empire home, slash the bloated Warfare State budget, drastically rein-in the nation’s headlong rush to fiscal disaster, throttle the rogue money-printers domiciled in the Eccles Building, de-weaponize the Federal machinery of justice, restore the absolute preeminence of the First Amendment and loosen the dangerous over-centralization of governance in Washington.
